Children
At Kemmis Clinical Psychology, we understand how challenging it can be when your child is struggling with emotional or behavioural difficulties. Whether it’s anxiety, trouble with emotion regulation, low self-esteem, perfectionism, depression, or trauma, these challenges can deeply affect your child’s daily life, development, and overall well-being. We know that early intervention is crucial in helping children build a strong foundation for emotional health and resilience, and we are here to support you and your child every step of the way.
Specialising in pre- and primary-school-age children, Jacqui works closely with families to help children navigate these emotional hurdles with personalised, compassionate care. She takes the time to truly understand each child’s unique experiences and tailor the therapeutic approach to meet their individual needs. Whether your child is struggling with feelings of anxiety, managing their emotions, or coping with past trauma, she provides a safe, nurturing space where they can feel heard, supported, and understood.
Our Approach
Through our targeted therapeutic strategies, we empower children to build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and foster a positive mindset. Our approach not only focuses on addressing immediate concerns such as low mood and perfectionism but also on equipping children with tools they can use to thrive long-term. Our goal is to help your child feel more confident, capable, and equipped to handle challenges effectively.
Jacqui employs evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based models, and trauma-informed approaches. With additional training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for children, she has found this method particularly effective in helping kids make meaningful improvements.
At Kemmis Clinical Psychology, we adhere to a collaborative, family-centered approach. We work alongside you to ensure your child receives the best care possible while also providing support to you throughout this process. If you have concerns about your child’s emotional well-being, it is crucial to act sooner rather than later—early intervention can significantly impact their journey. Let us assist your child in building the emotional strength necessary for a healthier, happier future.
The power of play
We understand how important play is for kids—it’s a powerful way for them to learn, heal, and grow emotionally. In our sessions, we use fun and playful techniques that let children express themselves without being held back by words. Jacqui creates a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere where kids can feel safe discussing tough subjects. She knows laughter is key to a child's well-being, so she embraces lightheartedness and silliness, showing kids that therapy can actually be a good time. This approach not only makes them feel at ease but also supports their emotional growth in a real and impactful way. While you might occasionally wonder about our activities, rest assured there's a purpose behind the play—it's always supporting deeper growth than what is visible on the surface.
